Abstract

This article brings together the basic notions of the sociology of education, which, applied to empirical research, allow us to describe and interpret social phenomena like education and culture in the LeBaron neighborhood in Chihuahua. This community is made up of people who began to move there in 1955 with the common objective of settling permanently and producing and reproducing their material and spiritual conditions of existence. This community, located in the northwestern part of Chihuahua state, now has more than 2,000 inhabitants whose lives are rapidlly being permeated by the customs and practices of the dominant culture surrounding them.
