Abstract

ORTIZ CUETO, Alex David. Production of Knowledge in Communications and Social Change Seen from the South. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2021, vol.36, n.102, pp.227-260.  Epub Sep 13, 2021. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article analyzes a network of men and women Colombian academics who have internationalized in order to produce knowledge in the field of communications for social change. To do this, the author covers Rodríguez Medina’s theoretical notions to name a network that is both academic and committed. The methodology is qualitative and phenomenologically oriented, using in-depth interviews to determine these researchers’ experiences in terms of their shared world views and ideologies. Utilizing the interviews, the author discusses the criteria that they fulfill or do not fulfill in their internationalization process as a network. Finally, he emphasizes some of the specific forms of organization that these academics have, their commitment to the communities, and the processes of social intervention that reveal the network’s practices and dynamics for producing knowledge from the Global South.
