Abstract

CONTRERAS-GOMEZ, Leobardo Eduardo  and  GIL ANTON, Manuel. Deconcentration of scientific activity in Mexico: an approach from the National System of Researchers. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2022, vol.37, n.105, e0002.  Epub Nov 18, 2022. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article presents an approximation of the geographical redistribution of Mexican sciences based on a comparative study of the geographical location of members of the National System of Researchers (SNI) between 2002 and 2018. The authors contrast several aspects: the number of SNI members by region, the regional concentration of fields of knowledge, the composition of regional sub-groups by SNI level, and the distribution of SNI members by sex. Their analysis of the information shows that partial -but not minor- changes have taken place in the fields of knowledge in different areas of the country and that the territorial distribution of researchers is their levels within the SNI.

Keywords : National System of Researchers; academic profession; regionalization of fields of knowledge; scientific community.
