Abstract

AVALOS GONZALEZ, Juan Manuel. Disidencias juveniles y medios digitales en México: ¿una coyuntura con elementos de futuro para la participación política?. Argumentos (Méx.) [online]. 2014, vol.27, n.75, pp.147-170. ISSN 0187-5795.

This paper reviews some youth experiences of political dissent of the contemporary Mexico, like #Detenme1Dmx, #PosMeSalto, #YakiriLibre, #ContraElSilencioMX, and #NoMásPoderAlPoder, to analyze the possibilities of local, national and global articulation through the digital media. The paper argues that these collective actions conform a citizen participation moment. To do this, I will use interviews with the young participants, the observation of digital media and interactive platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, spaces of communicative interaction in the collective action, and the role of the digital media in the process of collective action’s constitution, developments, and diffusion.

Keywords : Youth dissent; Digital media; Information and communication technologies; Political participation.
