Abstract

REYES CHAVEZ, Johan David  and  RAMIREZ-CASTILLO, Rosa. New record of the genus Loxogramme (Polypodiaceae) for the Honduran flora. Act. Bot. Mex [online]. 2019, n.126, e1386.  Epub Feb 17, 2020. ISSN 2448-7589.  https://doi.org/10.21829/abm126.2019.1386.

Background and Aims:

Loxogramme mexicana, the only mesoamerican species in the genus, was collected in the Santa Bárbara Mountain National Park (PANAMOSAB), marking its first confirmed record documented for Honduras.

Methods:

During floristic inventories in PANAMOSAB, a sample of Loxogramme mexicana was collected at 1385 m a.s.l., and during the identification process of the sample an error in the previous inclusion of the species in the catalog of pteridophytes of the country was found.

Key results:

The record of Loxogramme for Honduras is presented and its distribution from Mexico to Panama of the L. mexicana species is illustrated with a map.

Conclusions:

In order to update the catalog of pteridophytes in Honduras, we must review the species cited to be present in the literature, and continue to execute baseline research to know the richness of the group in the country.

Keywords : distribution; ferns; Mesoamerica; PANAMOSAB; Pteridophytes.
