Abstract

LOPEZ GUZMAN, Tomás J.; GONZALEZ FERNANDEZ, Virgilio; HERRERA TORRES, Lucía  and  LORENZO QUILES, Oswaldo. Melilla: Ciudad fronteriza internacional e intercontinental. Análisis histórico, económico y educativo. Frontera norte [online]. 2007, vol.19, n.37, pp.7-33. ISSN 2594-0260.

The border between two cultural, educational, and economically distinct worlds is reflected in Melilla, a Spanish (and European Union) city located in northern Africa. In this article, we analyze the economic and educational reality of this city, which in various national and community settings has been considered as a laboratory for testing policies on multicultural integration and models of regional public financing. We analyze the results in detail, in terms of their possible application to other geographic areas.

Keywords : multicultural; education; border city; European Union; Melilla.
