Abstract

HERNANDEZ MORENO, María del Carmen; SOTO SOTO, Alba Celina  and  VAZQUEZ RUIZ, Miguel Ángel. Impacto subregional del TLCAN: Sonora en el contexto de la frontera norte. Frontera norte [online]. 2008, vol.20, n.40, pp.105-134. ISSN 2594-0260.

Specialized literature offers numerous arguments that support the postulate on the positive relation between the processes of integration and economic growth of regions. However, analyzing the results after few more than ten years of NAFTA had demonstrated that the economic growth has not arrived homogenously to all regions, nor the states that inside them. So is the case of Sonora, located in the North border of Mexico, whose strategic geographical position promised better expectations. This paper has as objective to demonstrate again, that an economic growth model found on exogenous basis turns out pour results in medium and long term and does not leave room to enhance local capabilities.

Keywords : Economic integration; NAFTA; Border states; Endogenous growth; Sonora.
