Abstract

The objective of this article is to describe three strategies trough which yaqui women of two indigenous communities in Sonora are trying to increase their autonomy inside the domestic unit, thinking about the effects this strategies have on the continuity and modification of gender relations and power distribution between men and women. Also, we will incorporate a discussion of globalization as a catalyst of changes on different aspects of this ethnic group life.
