Abstract
VELAZQUEZ GUTIERREZ, María Ruth and MENDEZ REYES, Jesús. Youth, Rehabilitation, and Truncated Dreams: Centro de Diagnóstico para Adolescentes de Tijuana, Baja California. Frontera norte [online]. 2015, vol.27, n.54, pp.53-72. ISSN 2594-0260.
Violence is not a problem linked to poverty or marginalization, but rather to the deterioration oflife conditions, family disintegration, and the low expectations of teenagers and young adults about the future. This neglect has driven them to juvenile delinquency and is reflected by their presence in Tijuana's penitentiary system. This study examines the methods used by the Centro de Diagnóstico para Adolescentes de Tijuana, and suggests introducing changes in the recidivism program, at least in educational matters. Interviews with detained teenagers were used in this study to help explain and provide understanding for this situation.
