Abstract

CARRILLO ESPER, Raúl  and  GALVAN TALAMANTES, Yazmín. Strategy protective mechanical ventilation right ventricle guided by echocardiography. Rev. Asoc. Mex. Med. Crít. Ter. Intensiva [online]. 2015, vol.29, n.1, pp.38-45. ISSN 0187-8433.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a clinical entity that involves not only alveolar lesions, but also pulmonary capillary lesions, leading to pulmonary hypertension and acute cor pulmonale. Considering the poor prognosis of patients suffering from such acute right ventricular dysfunction, right ventricular protection by appropriate ventilatory settings has become crucial issue in ARDS management. The aim of this paper is to describe the right ventricle protective approach and to emphasize the importance of analyzing right ventricle function in ARDS using echocardiography.

Keywords : Right ventricular protection; acute respiratory distress syndrome; echocardiography.
