Abstract

PORRO, Silvia  and  RONCAGLIA, Diana. Weaknesses in the training of university graduates of scientific-technological careers. Educ. quím [online]. 2008, vol.19, n.3, pp.207-209. ISSN 0187-893X.

In previous papers we determined the relative importance of several competences and the degree acquired by graduates of our university for each of the mentioned skills, from the point of view of the same graduates and its employers. The competences that present the biggest difference between the importance that employers assign it and the degree acquired by the graduates are: the capacities related with oral and written communication and the knowledge of a second language. This last competence was considered like a weakness in their training by the graduates too. These weaknesses show that is neccesary to modify the way that we teach at university in order to include strategies that allow the development of competences related with social attitudes and information management, that are less valorated by teachers than competences related with procedures and attitudes for research.

Keywords : Competencias; formación universitaria; carreras científico-tecnológicas.
