Abstract

BASCUNAN BLASET, Aníbal. Antoine Laurent Lavoisier: The revolutionary. Educ. quím [online]. 2008, vol.19, n.3, pp.226-233. ISSN 0187-893X.

The versatile, the chemist and the public man are the three facets of Lavoisier that are covered in this paper. In the first one, the diversity of its occupations is remarked and his orally or written attacks and denunciations to all what he believed out of fashion, considered by him as few scientific or dangerous to the nation. The second facet, the largest in this paper, contains the most impressive chemical work of him, considered as the most revolutionary chemist ever borne. The public man facet explains his ending in the gallows.

Keywords : Lavoisier; revolutionary; versatile; chemist; public man.
