Abstract

GARCIA, Juventino J.. New recognition to Organometallic Chemistry and homogeneous catalysis. Educ. quím [online]. 2011, vol.22, n.1, pp.69-71. ISSN 0187-893X.

The recently awarded 2010 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recognizes three researchers whose research work lies in the field of organometallic chemistry and homogeneous catalysis: Richard F. Heck, Ei ichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki. The three developed methods for the preparation of complex organic molecules from simple raw materials, using a transition metal catalyst, particularly palladium. These methods are known generically as crosscoupling reactions, which were developed and released in the seventies. They are briefly presented here.

Keywords : cross coupling; palladium; catalysis; Heck; Negishi; Suzuki.
