Abstract

NIAZ, Mansoor. Philosophy of Chemistry or history and philosophy of science as a guide to understanding the development of chemistry. Educ. quím [online]. 2012, vol.23, suppl.2, pp.244-247. ISSN 0187-893X.

Given the interest of the scientific community in understanding the development of chemistry within a historical context, this editorial presents a brief summary of some episodes that can help us to understand the epistemological origin of our discipline. A revision of the literature shows that we are faced with alternatives or perhaps dilemma: How did chemistry develop? An answer to this question can help our role as teachers in a more effective manner.
