Abstract

HERNANDEZ ESPINOZA, Diógenes  and  ASTUDILLO SAAVEDRA, Luis. Acid-base titration using software. Educ. quím [online]. 2014, vol.25, n.1, pp.42-45. ISSN 0187-893X.

This paper represents a support of the basic concepts for General Chemistry syllabus. This development was an outcome thanks to the experiences applied in the last two years, where theoretical and experimental chemistry was taught at the University of Talca with students from Mechanical and Construction Engineering fields. Specifically in the experiment of the acid-base unit, the support came from Datastudio software, with the corresponding material (pH sensor and drop counter, Explore GLX and PC). Different students from various fields performed the titration of a 0.1 M hydrochloric acid solution with 0.1 M sodium hydroxide, enabling data entry, deduction and the interpretation of the graphically obtained results, that determined the exact neutralization point (at pH 7.0).

Keywords : computer assisted experiments; educational software; acid-base strength; tritation.
