Abstract

ORDENES, Ruby; ARELLANO, Marcela; JARA, Roxana  and  MERINO, Cristian. Macroscopic, submicroscopic and symbolic representations of matter. Educ. quím [online]. 2014, vol.25, n.1, pp.46-55. ISSN 0187-893X.

In this paper we present a review of the macro, micro and symbolic representations of matter. From this review, a questionnaire was adapted for application of 15-years, in the classification of the subject content. Data analysis shows that students have great difficulty in relating the macroscopic and sub-microscopic levels of matter, as well as to distinguish between mixtures and compounds.

Keywords : levels of representation; classification of matter; chemistry learning.
