Abstract
GRANADOS COSME, José Arturo and ORTIZ HERNANDEZ, Luis. The Decentralization of the Health System in Mexico: Transformation of a Power Structure. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2003, vol.65, n.3, pp.591-627. ISSN 2594-0651.
This article provides an analysis of the decentralization of the health system in Mexico. In order to analyze this phenomenon, the authors apply certain concepts from the neo-evolutionist trend of political anthropology. They use data from a bibliographic and newspaper review to show the determinants of health policy, the dynamics of its implementation and finally, its effects, both those that have already been documented and those that can be expected. At the same time, it assesses the scope and limitations of the neo-evolutionist approach in the most recent transformations in the so-called health sector reform.
Keywords : health policy; health sector reform; health systems.
