Abstract

LAUTIER, Bruno. Latin American Domestic Employees and the Sociology of Labour: Notes on the Brasilian Case. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2003, vol.65, n.4, pp.789-814. ISSN 2594-0651.

This article criticizes the lack of interest shown by the Sociology of work in domestic service, despite the fact that this type of employment constitutes the leading or second leading source of non-agricultural female employment. It analyzes the difficulty in placing this sector within the theoretical context of this branch of Sociology as part of the "informal" sector. It provides information on these female workers in Brazil has acquired and their various organizational experiences that have taken place there.
