This article, based on surveys and fieldwork carried out over the past 30 years, reviews the work of a number of French authors that have dealt with the concept of "social relations". It then goes on to analyze the concept of "social relations between the sexes" to establish its theoretic and methodological limits and to define its analytical proposal which is shaped by a different concept of the sexual division of labor. The article ends by linking the concept of social relations between the sexes to the problem of the sexed subject.
