Abstract

NATERA PERAL, Antonio. New Governance Structures and Networks. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2005, vol.67, n.4, pp.755-791. ISSN 2594-0651.

This article clarifies and systematizes the main features ofgovernance as a new means of understanding relations between state and societywithin the framework of the transformations of the state in recent decades. Social capital and public leadership are cited as specific determinants of the success of governance. Unlike other approaches, it considers that a specific feature of governance is the conception of government action as the management of networks comprising a multiplicity of public and private actors that interact in a complex fashion, which is the focus of this article.

Keywords : governance; network management; local politics; European governance.
