This article contributes to the study of Mexican and Salvadoran small businessmen in California. It describes the case of an ethnic Mexican economic enclave in the center-east of Los Angeles, comprising wholesale, semiwholesale and retail commercial activities. It studies the strategies used by warehouse owners to start their businesses and the role played by marriage between Mexicans and Salvadorans in the establishment of small businesses.
