Abstract

MACEIRA, Verónica Viviana. Segmentation of the Labor Force and Worker Identity in Argentina. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2009, vol.71, n.3, pp.491-524. ISSN 2594-0651.

The article explores the intensity of the differentiation between regular manual workers and those that have been unemployed for long periods or inserted in the labor force in extremely precarious conditions in Argentina. A comparative study is used to analyze the way and intensity in which this type of heterogeneity in workers' conditions is related to the construction of representations and positions on identity and social conflict, and affects solidarity between the various groups.

Keywords : working class; social heterogeneity; marginality; social trajectories; social awareness; workers' solidarity.
