Abstract

POZAS HORCASITAS, Ricardo. The modern author and writing. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2013, vol.75, n.2, pp.225-253. ISSN 2594-0651.

Beginning with the sociology of the text, this article develops the relationship between writing and modernity, as well as between the modern author, as a creator of the new, and the relations that he or she establishes with the social processes of modernizing change. It is in these processes that the critical works which see the perverse and predatory effects of the collective and the break with nature develop. This paper is also a tribute to Marshall Berman's book All That is Solid Melts into Air (1982), on its 30 anniversary.

Keywords : sociology of text; modern author; modernity and modernization; writing of the new; critical writing; essay.
