Abstract

MALAMUD, Marina. The new "flexible military man". Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2014, vol.76, n.4, pp.639-663. ISSN 2594-0651.

Countries with professional armed forces face major challenges at the organizational level in the definition of roles, value structures and relations with citizens. The goal of this paper is to argue the importance of finding a new pattern of analysis of the military sphere as a social organization, considering that it reproduces the variables imposed as a constituent part of the military profession. The proposal of a "flexible military man" is a possible paradigm adapted to the specific challenges of today’s individualized societies.

Keywords : military sociology; defense and security; armed forces; state sociology.
