Abstract

This paper analyzes the circumstances in which community control helps or hinders forest sustainability. It includes a synthesis of the debates on the role of various actors in conservation and describes the context of Mexican experiences in community forest management. This framework was applied to the analysis of the results of a survey conducted in 102 forest communities.
