Abstract
NERCESIAN, Inés and MENDOZA, Marina. Entrepreneurship and political power: PPK and Piñera (2010-2018). Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2021, vol.83, n.1, pp.73-102. Epub May 28, 2021. ISSN 2594-0651. https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2021.1.60023.
The efforts to understand who the representatives of political power are and how they govern have been revitalized since the conservative turn in Latin America. This article analyzes the cases of Sebastián Piñera (Chile) and Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (Peru), identifying the link of economic groups, businesspeople, and technocrats with politics. Neoliberal transformations redefined the composition of traditional power groups, while privatizations and pro market policies gave rise to new groups. Since 2000 there has been a redefinition of the political representation of these groups, and certain sectors decided to directly occupy the springs of the State.
