Abstract

ZAPATA CELESTINO, Kevin. Mexico and the Nordic dream: An impossible?. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2021, vol.83, n.3, pp.611-644.  Epub Sep 13, 2021. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2021.3.60134.

This article aims to ponder on the elements that serve as the basis of the social democratic welfare state of the Nordic countries, and how these elements contrast with Mexico’s reality. Comparing trade unions and industrial relations, economic and productive structures, and the sustainability of social policies, the article shows that Mexico is in many ways the opposite of the Nordic countries.

Keywords : welfare state; Nordic model; unions; industrial relations; Mexico.
