Abstract

LEMKE DUQUE, Carl Antonius  and  VECI LAVIN, Carlos. “Spanish ideal type”: Socio-pedagogical key of early Francoism. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2023, vol.85, n.1, pp.135-166.  Epub Feb 10, 2023. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2023.1.60417.

This paper proposes a relationship between the concepts of education and society under the early Franco regime, especially during the tenure of José Ibáñez Martín as education minister. First, it describes the so-called “ideal type of Spanish man” outlined at that time. Then, it delves into the connection between this idealized projection and the sociological theories elaborated in the academic framework supported by the regime. Focusing on the dialogue between politicians, intellectuals and the circle of the Revista de Occidente, it reveals a transfer from European thought to Spanish culture that turned sociology into an instrument of educational innovation.

Keywords : early Francoism; education policy; contemporary authoritarianism; german sociology; cultural transfers.
