Abstract

MARTINEZ, Sandra Patricia  and  MACA, Deidi. Self-entrepreneurs and neoliberal subjectivities in a Colombian city. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2023, vol.85, n.2, pp.309-338.  Epub May 05, 2023. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2023.2.60561.

This article addresses how neoliberal governmentality is experienced by service providers and “entrepreneurs” through devices such as entrepreneurialism, human capital and responsibility in Cali, Colombia. Based on in-depth interviews, it establishes how the entrepreneurial ethic of this reason of government has colonized both their work worlds and their daily lives. It concludes with some reflections on how the establishment of this rationality has influenced both the processes of individual subjectivation and the configuration of the contemporary world of work in Colombia.

Keywords : neoliberal governmentality; entrepreneurial ethic; human capital; responsibility.
