Abstract
CALISE, Santiago Gabriel. Societal structure and semantics in Niklas Luhmann’s sociology. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2023, vol.85, n.4, pp.823-855. Epub Nov 10, 2023. ISSN 2594-0651. https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2023.4.61141.
This paper analyzes the relation-ship that Luhmann establishes between societal structure and semantics. This work shows how Luhmann’s sociology of knowledge is based on the hypothesis of the correlation between both types of structure and is concretized through the mechanisms of the evolution of ideas. This formulation is linked to a stratified social formation, while, for the functionally differentiated society, the explanation of the relationship between both concepts is left vacant, due to the dissolution of the evolution of ideas. The analysis of the ideas proposed by the main commentators shows that no other alternative hypothesis is valid.
