Abstract

CARDONA ACUNA, Luz Angela; PORTELA GARCIA, Juan Camilo  and  HURTADO BANDA, César Raziel. A processual interactionist approach to legal change. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2024, vol.86, n.1, pp.191-222.  Epub Feb 23, 2024. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2024.1.61534.

This paper proposes a procedural interactionist theoretical approach that explains legal change as resulting from the predominant dimensions of societal and socio-state interactions between social actors, the updating of the procedural elements of social life and the moral disputes over the social order. This proposal is an alternative to strategic, rational and instrumental conceptions of legal change and the state. The proposal is based on contributions from symbolic interactionism, processual and cultural sociologies and the anthropology of the state that enrich our understanding of legal change.

Keywords : legal change; interactionism; processual sociology; cultural sociology; anthropology of the state; moral dispute.
