Abstract

MERCADO-MARTINEZ, Francisco J.  and  ASCENCIO-MERA, Carlos D.. Organ donation and transplantation in the written press: A study in Western Mexico. Comun. soc [online]. 2014, n.21, pp.161-180. ISSN 0188-252X.

This paper examines the coverage of written press on organ donation and transplantation published between 2000 and 2009 in four media of Jalisco. The voices of health directors predominate focused on (liver) transplantation, on health and legal issues and with a negative orientation. Meanwhile, discourses of donators, their families and donation coordinators are excluded.

Keywords : Organ donation and transplantation; written press; health; Mexico; qualitative methods.
