Abstract

CAMPOS, Edgar. The postponement of the voice: dialogism and simultaneity in La feria by Juan José Arreola. Lit. mex [online]. 2010, vol.21, n.2, pp.235-261. ISSN 2448-8216.

The present study explores the dialogism and polyphony in La feria of Juan José Arreola, in the light of a reading of these notions in the <<philosophy of language>> of Mikhail M. Bahktin. Based on a review of selected criticism about the novel, the author takes out a methodical study under Bahktinian assumptions to deepen the polyphonic character of the work - a factor already detected by specialists without conducting a pointed study of the matter. This allows us to analyze the behavior of different discourses and voices in their simultaneous and dialogic projection within the great dialogue involving the world of Zapotlán.

Keywords : Mijaíl Bajtín; Juan José Arreola; La feria polyphony; dialogism; voice; simultaneity.
