Abstract
ROSETTI, Mariana. The displacement and cultural ventriloquism. Servando Teresa de Mier and Simón Rodríguez, translators Atala de Chateaubriand. Lit. mex [online]. 2015, vol.26, n.2, pp.9-30. ISSN 2448-8216. https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.litmex.26.2.2015.885.
The present article aims to analyze the translation of Chateaubriand's novel Atala (1801) made in Paris by Fray Servando Teresa de Mier and Simón Rodríguez as a cultural ventriloquism of a modern sociability which was born in theatres and bars. In order to do so, this translation is studied in the light of the concepts of translation as a cultural displacement (Pagni) and literary translation as the spectacle of ventriloquism (Ette).
