CONTRERAS CUEVA, Angélica Beatriz; MACIAS ALVAREZ, Pamela and GONZALEZ MORALES, Olga. Impact of the “Tesoros de Mexico” Certification on the Competitive Advantage of Hotels. Econ: teor. práct [online]. 2018, n.49, pp.165-194. ISSN 2448-7481. https://doi.org/10.24275/etypuam/ne/492018/contreras.
This paper analyses the relationship between the implementation of the quality certificate called “Treasures of Mexico” and its effects on the competitive advantage of boutique hotels, from the perspective of resources and capabilities. The objective of the study is to identify if this certification generates a competitive advantage in certified hotels with respect to counterparts without certification, the data were obtained after the application of a questionnaire, methodologies were used for the estimation of results, such as the generalized least squares structural equations model, the confirmatory factorial analysis method, and the mean difference test. Concluding that the “Treasures of Mexico” certification, if it influences the competitive advantage, this is due in the first place to decisions made by the leadership of its managers, and secondly to the ability of the company to focus on the quality practices related to intangible resources and the distinctive competences that the company possesses.
