BENITEZ GAIBOR, Marcela Karina; MARTINEZ, Juan Pablo; MARGALINA, Vasilica Maria  and  VALENCIA NUNEZ, Edison Roberto. Market Structure Analysis of Footwear Production Chain Companies in Ecuador. Econ: teor. práct [online]. 2020, n.52, pp.99-120.  Epub June 17, 2020. ISSN 2448-7481.  https://doi.org/10.24275/etypuam/ne/522020/benitez.

The aim of this study is to identify the market structure of footwear manufacturing companies in Ecuador by calculating four concentration indexes and applying a multiple correspondence analysis to measure the contribution of each index to the concentration of each analyzed activity in the footwear production chain. The results show that companies have a low concentration market structure, but the correlation analysis shows that the four most representative companies according to sales have market power. The most representative indexes that contribute are: the dominance index (DI) and the index of the four largest companies (CRK).

Keywords : market structure; economic concentration; concentration indexes; correspondence analysis.
