Abstract

LLAMAS, Ignacio. Covid-19 as an Accelerator of the Move towards a New Educational Model: Analyses, Challenges and Obstacles. Econ: teor. práct [online]. 2020, n.spe5, pp.99-123.  Epub July 30, 2021. ISSN 2448-7481.  https://doi.org/10.24275/etypuam/ne/e052020/llamas.

The article shows that the emergence of Covid-19 has accelerated the adoption of new ICT in education systems, particularly in Mexico. Through a brief presentation of the historical evolution of education systems in the Western world, the distinction between education in the workplace and at school, as well as between physical and social technologies used in educational activity, is highlighted. Emphasis is placed on the joint evolution of these technologies and the fact that both generally originate from productive activities. It seeks to show that social technologies can curb the application, and even creation, of physical technologies. It also describes current educational models and argues that the physical technologies developed in recent times point to the adoption and formation of a virtual educational model, which will allow for a set of possibilities to lead to teamwork and cooperation skills, as well as individualization through the design of a curriculum that responds to the potentials of each student. In addition, some implications for possible educational reforms are proposed, as well as suggestions for schooling skills that students should acquire.

Keywords : School education; social technology; physical technology; education model.
