Abstract
STEZANO PEREZ, Federico Andrés. Construction of knowledge transfer networks in the biotechnology sector in Mexico: A case study of technological linkages between researchers of CINVESTAV-Irapuato and LANGEBlO and companies of the agro-biotechnology sector. Estud. soc [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.39, pp.9-38. ISSN 0188-4557.
This article addresses the thematic of the science-industry relationships for the knowledge transfer in Mexico. The research is based on the case study of interactions developed between research groups of a federal research center (CINVESTAV Irapuato) and agro-biotechnology companies, analyzing their patterns of interaction from informal, formal and commercial-based transfer channels. The paper argues about the isolated and successful profile of these networks. On the one hand, the study confirms that the construction of science-industry networks is exceptional in a national innovation system incapable to construct dynamic interactions that favor knowledge flows among its main innovation agents, and to define priority areas for innovative development. Also, the case shows the importance of intermediation from organizational mechanisms and public programs of S & T to shape new types of relationships between actors, and also the relational character of the technology and knowledge transfer.
