Abstract

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (2010), Mexico holds the first place worldwide in overweight and second in obesity. The Programa Nacional de Cultura Física y Deporte (2008) seek to raise the number of the country's physically active habitants to 35 million by 2012. The objective of this study is to determine the factors, and their dimension, that influence the decision of practicing physical activity among the residents of Mexico. Using data by the Encuesta Nacional Sobre Uso del Tiempo (2009) , two econometric models were estimated.
