Abstract
PEREZ PADILLA, María de la Luz; RIVERA HEREDIA, María Elena and URIBE ALVARADO, J. Isaac. Migration from the view of agro-industry employers from los Altos de Jalisco, Mexico. Estud. soc [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.43, pp.111-136. ISSN 0188-4557.
Migration and farming activities are part of a tradition that has an economic and social impact on people from Los Altos de Jalisco daily lives, Mexico. Because of that, here is a qualitative study about the perception and experience that nine employers from an agro-industry organization have related to the migration in this region. The costs and benefits associated to it were pointed out. The employers observed a reduction of emigrates and an increment of deportees. Employers identify more women and sons entering to the company to work. More-over, they perceive some negative effect due to the migration such as returnees' adaptation difficulties, getting different costumes, family abandonment or family distancing, and a lack of sending remittances. They also recognize that returned migrant employees develop new qualities and are more demanding to the company.
