Abstract

POSADAS SEGURA, Florencio. The situation of rural workers in Sinaloa. Estud. soc [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.49, pp.243-271. ISSN 0188-4557.

The aim of this article is to show recent changes in the workforce, their migration mobility and income status and salary expenditure of rural laborers. The methodology applied for the emblematic case of Villa Juarez, Sinaloa, proves that labor and mobility have changed but the field workers are struggling in poverty. The results indicate that the transformations are carried out between local laborers and impoverished migrants contradict prevailing stereotypes. A limitation of this and almost all researches on this subject is the insufficient representation of the variegated world journeyman. It is concluded that the contradictory changes are made within the framework of a new production and labor restructuring of agriculture tip, which is particularly affecting rural workers, making it urgent to explain its features to design adequate public policies aimed this forgotten sector of society.
