In this paper the authors analyse the conditions of aridity of the central part of the State of Queretaro and other features of the physical environment as well as the evolution of the socioeconomic characteristics of its inhabitants. The main purpose of the study is to suggest certain ideas that could be used in the development of this marginated area of Mexico.
