Abstract
SANCHEZ SILVA, Rubén; LOPEZ GARCIA, José and ESPINOZA R., José Manuel. Cambios en la comunidad de Pinus culminicola Andresen & Beaman en el Cerro Potosí, N.L. México. Invest. Geog [online]. 1987, n.17, pp.65-73. ISSN 2448-7279.
A study was done about Pinus culminicola Andresen & Beaman from the summit of Cerro Potosí, State of Nuevo León, México, an endemic species from the north of the Sierra Madre Oriental, covering in 1960 an area of 106 ha, but only 70 ha in 1970, due to destruction by fire. The distribution and floristic structure of the associations and environmental conditions were studied with aerial photographs and field work. Although there is regeneration of the community of P. culminicola, it is not enough to contrarrest the present and growing human pressure on the area. From that we concluded that it is necessary to declareit a protected area, in order to preserve the plant community.
