Abstract

HERNANDEZ, Ma. Engracia. Condiciones climáticas del Golfo de California y sus islas. Invest. Geog [online]. 1989, n.20, pp.71-87. ISSN 2448-7279.

The main object of this paper is to study an area which has not been studied from the climatology point of view, and to establish the possible causes of the observed climatic characteristics. No climatic records are available from the islands, temperature and precipitation were obtained by interpolation from the information on climate of the two sides of the Gulf and using the local topography of islands and vegetation studies as indicators. The information is summarized in sixteen maps. This area has a very dry climate, but it has particular continental characteristics due to the general circulation of atmosphere, to the shape of the Gulf and to the presence of high cordilleras that enclose the area and isolate it from the effect of the adjacent ocean.
