Abstract
GARCIA, Enriqueta and TREJO, Rosa Irma. La presencia del monzón en el noroeste de México. Invest. Geog [online]. 1994, n.28, pp.33-64. ISSN 2448-7279.
This paper is based on a larger project concerning the climatology of nortwestern Mexico using satellite data. This project, uses satellite images of cloud cover to analyse the relationship between weather patterns, clouds and precipitation. Fifteen years of daily images produced by the meteorological satellites ESSA and GOES were analyzed together with the daily weather charts made by the Mexican Meteorological Service. Nine weather systems were found along the eight regions of northwestern Mexico, the include: westerlies, jet stream, extratropical cyclonic fronts, Pacific monsoon, tropical Pacific cyclones, easterly and northeasterly trades. The statiscal frequency of each weather system is shown graphically in the paper, as well as its relationship with the daily and average precipitation. The method of research used may be usefull for areas or time where no climatic data exist.
