Abstract
VALVERDE V., Carmen; TAMAYO P. DE HAM, Luz Ma. and VARGAS CHANES, Delfino. Aplicación del análisis de correspondencias en el estudio de la vivienda. Invest. Geog [online]. 1994, n.28, pp.129-150. ISSN 2448-7279.
The present paper proposes the use of the statistical method named correspondence analysis as an alternative for statistical analysis applied to social variables; in this particular case: housing facilities. It has the purpose of finding differences between statistical areas which have been censed. This procedure was applied to some data on facilities values in Mexico's three most important metropolitan areas: Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey using 1980 census information. We could prove that this technique can be used for social problem's analysis since it compares graphically both variables and observations. This is a property that other multivariate methods don't have. In this case, starting from the hypothetical model of Urban Development suggested by Valverde and Tamayo (1990), and the correspondence analysis values significant results were obtained allowing model adjustment.
