Abstract

Migration movements of indian population get special characteristics within the general displacements of the population. Althoug the bulkiness of the indigenous mobility has pour significance compared to the total national and state migration, in the case of the Peninsula of Yucatán there are important displacements within this population basically mayans. According to the 1990 census, the studied region had 94 591 indian immigrants and 89 977 indian emmigrants, both parameters with large proportions of innerpeninsular movements. In this paper the characteristics of the migration in the Peninsula de Yucatán, its particular aspects in each one of the states that conform it, and its comparison towards migration dynamic of Mexico are analyzed.
