Abstract

TEJEDA-MARTINEZ, Adalberto; MENDEZ-PEREZ, Irving R.; UTRERA-ZARATE, Alberto  and  RODRIGUEZ-VIQUEIRA, Luis. The concept of Effective Temperature applied to the housing electrical prices in the East of Mexico. Invest. Geog [online]. 2005, n.58, pp.106-121. ISSN 2448-7279.

The Mexican legislation establish that the prices of electrical power in hot/warm zones of Mexico are related with mean monthly temperatures during warmer six-months. Because the number of climatological stations is not enough to associate locations with measured temperatures, this paper proposes a linear regression procedure for estimate the mean monthly temperature as a function of altitude. In view of the evidence of the atmospheric humidity influence on human comfort perception, an additional correction by means of the Effective Temperature is presented. Finally, we estimate the financial impact of this proposal on the Federal Electricity Company.

Keywords : Human bioclimate; housing electrical prices; East Mexico.
