Abstract

DE LA ROSA-PEREZ, David A.; TEUTLI-LEON, Ma. Maura Margarita  and  RAMIREZ-ISLAS, Marta E.. Polluted soils electroremediation, a technical review for field application. Rev. Int. Contam. Ambient [online]. 2007, vol.23, n.3, pp.129-138. ISSN 0188-4999.

During the last two decad the interest for developing remediation technologies for polluted soils treatment has been increasing. Several techniques have been oriented to get in situ remediation, in this context electroremediation is an attractive technique due to their potential for removing both organic and inorganic pollutants. The present work is a technical review about polluted soil remediation by electroremediation, this work covers the following aspects: electrokinetics fundamentals, pollutant removal mechanisms, and an analysis of the main variables as well as their influence over the process, and improvements for increase the efficiency; also it is included a foresight of field applications.

Keywords : polluted soil; remediation; electroremediation; heavy metals; organic pollutants.
