El Dr. James N. Pitts Jr. fue miembro del Consejo Editorial de la Revista Internacional de Contaminación Ambiental desde 1992 hasta la fecha de su reciente fallecimiento. Al aceptar la invitación para integrarse al Consejo Editorial el Dr. Pitts no se conformó con ver su nombre escrito en el directorio de la revista, sino que de manera permanente, número tras número, escribió al Editor haciendo comentarios siempre constructivos.

En este número, como un modesto homenaje a su memoria, se publica una breve biografía escrita por su esposa y colega, la Dra. Bárbara J. Finlayson, que destaca lo más importante de su exitosa carrera académica.

El Editor y el equipo editorial de la revista desean expresar sus más sentidas condolencias a la Dra. Finlayson, a su familia y a sus amigos.

Dr. James N. Pitts Jr. was a member of the Editorial Board of Revista Internacional de Contaminación Ambiental from 1992 until his recent decease. After accepting the invitation to become a member of the Editorial Board, Dr. Pitts did not resign himself to see his name in the directory of the journal, but always, issue after issue, wrote to the Editor making valuable commentaries.

In this issue, as a modest homage, we publish a brief profile, wrote by his spouse and coleague, Dr. Barbara J. Finlayson, that highlights the more important aspects of his academic life.

The Editor and the editorial team wish to offer their heartfelt condolences to Dr. Finlayson and to her family and friends on the passing of James N. Pitts Jr.
